Named Chicago’s Best Gospel Entertainer of 2019, LeNasia Tyson is a soulful, inspirational singer and songwriter whose positive energy and powerful message encourage listeners to find purpose in every trial. Her music boldly declares that it’s okay to be uniquely creative and different—while giving God praise.

Her journey gained momentum in 1997 at a music workshop at Northern Illinois University, where her matured voice and commanding stage presence caught the attention of renowned songwriter and producer Percy Gray. She later traveled as a guest soloist with the award-winning Chicago Mass Choir, further sharpening her gift and expanding her reach.

A gifted songwriter, LeNasia released her first single, “Hold’N On,” followed by her 15-track debut album A New Relationship in 2004, featuring the hit “I Live For You.” In 2013, she served as Minister of Music at the Chapel within Olive Branch Mission in Chicago, where she founded the ministry’s first adult choir, youth choir, and praise team. She also contributed five songs to Worship & Praise Volume 1.

 

Her background vocals have supported notable gospel artists including Smokie Norful, Erica Campbell, Jonathan Nelson, and Kim McFarland. In 2018, she released “Like My Daddy,” affectionately known as “The Father’s Day Song,” followed by her vibrant full-length album Dare To Praise Different, featuring chart-climbing singles such as “Forward,” “Lessons To Learn,” and “He’s Been Good.” Her 2022 single “Never Give Up” introduced a fresh jazzy, church-inspired sound.

On February 26, 2025, she released her third project, Journey Within, a body of work centered on spiritual growth and perseverance. With five songs successfully serviced to gospel radio, LeNasia has steadily built momentum and credibility within the industry.

 

After intentionally stepping away to care for personal matters and family, she returned to music with renewed strength and clarity. Her 2026 single, “Holy Ghost,” reflects that season — a bold testimony of choosing faith over fear and responding to life’s trials through the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit.
